A single vCenter Server will be deployed for the <CUSTOMER> environment. The management, edge, and compute clusters will be added to this vCenter. The vSphere, VMware NSX, and VIO management components and the hosts of the management cluster will run on a Layer 2 network. The edge and compute hosts will use a Layer 3 network. No firewall service is configured between the racks. The vCenter Server connects to the edge and compute hosts by VLAN routing.

The physical network architecture is tightly coupled with the pod and core architecture and uses a Layer 3 leaf and spine network instead of the more traditional three-tier data center design.
