ESXi Host Logical Design
The following table lists the ESXi host logical design decisions made for this architecture design.
Table 12. Additional ESXi Host Logical Design Decisions
Decision ID | Design Decision | Design Justification | Design Implication |
---|---|---|---|
For this design, <Customer> has made the following decisions listed in this table. | |||
Virtual machines will store the virtual swap file in the default location. | Using the default location for storing the VMware (.vswp) swap file simplifies configuration of the hosts. | ||
SSH will be disabled on the hosts. | Disabling access secures the ESXi host. | If console access is required, the service will have to be enabled prior to being allowed access. This can delay troubleshooting efforts. | |
Instead of the default scratch partition, ESXi logs will be forwarded to a syslog server. vRealize Log Insight Server will be used as syslog server. | vRealize Log Insight can collect and analyze different log data. A centralized logging tool should be implemented for the customer environment to simplify management and troubleshooting. |
