General Management Design Guidelines

Design the management infrastructure to support the architecture being designed. The following are the consuming aspects of OpenStack that will impact the design and the infrastructure performance:

Expected velocity of parallel provisioning events

Expected density of VM per vSphere ESXi host

Expected density of VM per Nova-Compute driver

Ratio of ESXi hosts to ESXi compute clusters

Ratio of expected allocation of VM NICs per VM instance

Use of metadata services

All of these are key considerations that will impact the infrastructure and service availability.
