Executive Summary

This VMware Integrated OpenStack Architecture Design document has been developed to provide a blueprint for the design of <Customer’s> vSphere infrastructure environment as a part of an OpenStack implementation.

This document details the recommended implementation of the VMware Integrated OpenStack solution architecture and is based on VMware best practices and <Customer> specific requirements and business goals discussed during the assessment phase. It provides both logical and physical design considerations, which encompass all VMware vSphere^® related infrastructure components. These components include requirements and specifications for virtual machines, hosts, networking, storage, and management. Physical design details and recommendations apply to the widest spectrum of possible hardware used by <Customer> which has resulted in specific hardware, firmware, and features being omitted from the design document. This type of information can be found in the accompanying VMware Integrated OpenStack Configuration Workbook. The design can be replicated across sites and differing hardware with minimum modification.
